You Can Do Well by Shedding Your Unfit Clothes

A lot of people think the best thing you can do with lightly used clothing that no longer fits is to either throw it away or sell it at a garage sale. While you can do whatever you want with your property, a lot of times these aren’t the best ideas available to you. For one thing, you can actually donate your slightly imperfect clothes to a charity and get a tax deduction while someone else gets to enjoy them.

Having a slick pair of Dereon pants is great. But it can get annoying if you bought the wrong size, or if you experience a major change in your weight. When you aren’t the right size for your clothes, it can be a problem for you. Also, while having a successful garage or yard sale is a fairly easy way to make some quick cash, it might not be the most effective use of your cash if you’re making money and paying taxes.

Consider what could happen at a garage sale. You sell your nice clothes for a few bucks to someone who walks away feeling high on their great deal. But when it comes time to pay your taxes, your refund won’t be as large as it would have been if you’d donated your clothes to a charity. You can often deduct 50 percent or more of your clothes’ original value from your taxes, which can be a boon if you donate a lot of clothes in a year. Just make sure you get receipts and donate to a reputable charity that will use your clothes for good.

Most people want to have nice clothes and look fashionable. This is true in the workplace, at school, and even just hanging out with friends. The problem is that not everyone has the expendable income it can take to maintain a nice wardrobe. Designer clothing is expensive, and if you do spend money on it, a lot of the time it goes out of fashion in one season. There are things you can do, however, to dress fashionably on a budget.

 

Buy Fashionable Clothing at a Discount

  • Second-Hand Shops: Most cities have stores that sell second-hand clothing. Some are run by non-profit organizations while others cater to a more fashion-conscious clientele. You can find these shops by searching on the Internet or consulting with your local Yellow Pages.
  • Discount Outlets: Some stores take overstock clothing from designers and sell it at a discount price. Ross and TJ Max are two of the more famous stores that do this, but there are plenty of others, too.
  • Clearance Racks: If you shop at the right time of year, there may be some great deals on clearance racks. This is because stores are trying to clear out last year’s fashions to make room for new products.

Nobody is going to know where you bought that fashionable dress or blouse unless they ask you, so why pay full prices when you have other options. It is possible to look great without spending a fortune – you just have to know where to look for the good deals. Shopping can be fun anyway, so why not take the time to look for bargains?

Wearing the best clothing you can does a lot for you. People treat you better when you wear nicer clothing, and often times you even feel better when better threads are against your skin. So when it comes down to finding great outfits at the high end of the spectrum, you don’t need to spend your entire paycheck to get them. In fact, sometimes the best clothes can still be had for great deals.

The thing is, you won’t likely find LRG clothes sitting on the $29 rack of your local secondhand store. Life just isn’t quite that easy. However, one of the best places to find the hottest brands for nickels on the dollar is at flea markets. These places tend to buy in tremendous bulk, and will occasionally buy seconds that aren’t quite perfect but are still good. They can then pass on the savings to you. Of course, there are also garage sales, but they tend to be a bit more of a mixed bag than flea markets are.

After all, a garage sale is basically someone trying to part with what they no longer want. The best outfits, with the exception of baby clothes and small children’s items, tend to be worn until they’re downright worn out. While you can reduce the wear and tear on your clothes, you will eventually have to buy new ones. And when you do, most people who practice the same kind of clothes-sparing activities will have ridden their wardrobe until its proverbial wheels have flown off. Tips to keeping your nails strong, healthy and pretty.

Many women experience problems with their nails, weather it’s cuticle problems or cracking, to split nails, hang-nails or broken nails. It’s hard to find the time in a busy schedule to set aside some time to take care of your nails, and many times, they go untreated or unnoticed without getting the proper healthy treatment. It takes time to go to the salon, and it also takes money. Here are a few ways to work on your nails at home, and help them stay strong and pretty.

1. When doing housework or cleaning,  always, ALWAYS wear rubbergloves. Many chemicals within household cleaners are harmful to not only your skin, but also your nails as well. Keep gloves nearby and put them on to protect your hands and nails, even when doing something simple, like dishes.

2. Pushing back your cuticles can be painful and lead to cracking, bleeding or overgrowth. Push back your cuticles with a cuticle pusher(most can be found at drugstores for around 99cents) and come in at a 45 degree angle. Be GENTLE! Your nails are fragile, and cuticle rips damage not just the cuticle, but the entire nail.

3. Trim your toenails straight across. This discourages breaking and can help you avoid painful ingrown nails, which is especially important if you have diabetes.

4. Dry your hands for 2 minutes after doing housework such as dishes, showers and even baths. Leaving damp parts to your nails encourages breaking and fungal infections. Drying them thoroughly reduces that risk.

5. Keep your nails hydtrated at all times. If you can’t go out and buy nail hydtration or strengthener, use household items such as petroluem jelly, castor oil,or olive oil. Vitamin E is essiential to keep your nails strong and healthy, not dry and prone to cracking.

Spring 2011 Nail Colors

With winter fading and spring just around the corner, Women are beginning to  look for new nail colors that will show off a spring outfit or look, leaving the darker colors for winter outfits behind. Here are some of the Nail polish trends for spring 2011:

Pale blue or Robbin’s egg blue. Pastel blue’s are a favorite for demure and girlie “spring” looks and offer a pale polish that gives your nails some color, without being too over-bright or overstated.

Peach tinged Pink, or Peaches and Cream. A perfect pink color to go with a spring tan, or an outfit meant to show off some skin. Pastel’s and pales are it this season, with Pastel pinks and peaches being in the lead.

Nude or skin toned. These colors are simple, yet pretty and don’t overstate your look. Make sure you buy a product with a shine or polish to it, as a nude or skin tone without shine will make your hands look dull and your nails fake.

Dusty purple, Lavender shades and shiny heliotrope are prefect nail-colors to go with almost any skin tone. While the pales are in season, these purple shades go with springtime looks for any skin color, and work well with almost all spring outfits.

Grey’s and Metallics. These colors never go out of style. They offer a funky, futuristic look for spring, while the shine is a careful undertaking to make your nails stand out with a more bold statement.

While these shades are fantastic,you can’t forget about your top coat colors.Many polishes look dull without a shine, shimmer or slick nude look,so stick to clear, shimmering or gilded topcoats to make your nails extra professional looking, even if you didn’t venture out to the salon, and gave yourself a nail treatment at home.

Make-up is a product almost all women buy. However, many different brands exist, and finding the right one can be confusing. What’s a good make-up brand that’s not expensive, but worth putting some money into?  While all kinds of make-up brands have good products and bad products, Many French-based make-up companies are the best product for your skin and for your dollar.

French companies are the best leaders when it comes to skin care and make up as they are more technologically advanced in that department, with Germany being second in the industry. So products like L’oreal and Vichy are nice, stable brands offering good products at an affordable price. Drugstores carry brands like NYC and Wet N Wild. These brands aren’t really preferred, though cheap , most of their products are a disappointment and end up being sticky or chalky.

Mabliene is a brand found at both Wal-marts and department stores alike, and is a moderately priced brand that offers some good products. For those willing to spend more money on make-up,  there are brands such as Dr.Hauschka, Benefit, Too faced and Urban decay. These can be found in places like Ulta, or Sephora and consistently haveput out a good product that’s worth the money,good for your skin and doesn’t clog pores. Covergirl is also a medium based brand much like Mabliene .Though some products from their line may be pricey, they are worth the money, and they are consistently putting out new products or variations of old favorites that end up being best sellers and favorites of celebrity make-up artists.

A fact to always remember, regardless of what brand you prefer or end up buying, use products that have natural ingredients as they are best for your skin. Wash your make-up off daily with a good face wash to unclog your pores, and never “cake on” your make up as it ends up looking over done, raccoon-ish,orange and somewhat goofy.Find the right shade for your skin-tone, as each skin tone has it’s own color palate to use to make you look your best.

A Weekend in Toronto’s Fashion District

The concept of a weekend getaway is great for the mind, and you can also take an opportunity to explore the world of fashion. Some of the budding fashion trends in the world originate in Toronto, Canada. Original designs abound here, and you are not limited to the static brands found in many big-name stores. Various fabric, leathers, and furs can be found and, between imports from many countries around the world and the use of new technologies and development methods here at home, designers are working hard to maintain their presence in the Canadian fashion industry.
