A thrift store can be an amazing place to go to when you are creative and can see ideas jump out at you. In fact, not too long ago, actress Drew Barrymore appeared on the Red Carpet wearing one of the years hottest dresses. The critics were loving the ensemble and they kept prying to find out the designer. When pressed Ms. Barrymore simply said, “I don’t know who the designer is, I got it at a thrift store for $7 dollars.” This is not an impossible achievement to duplicate, and millions of fashion icons are taking on the idea that thrift is better.

There are keys to finding good thrift stores in your area, that will provide nice quality type of items. Look for areas that are close to where you live that tend to have a higher income. Many times, these communities will purchase clothing because of the season, and get rid of anything that is not in season. While this may sound a littly nutty, it is absolutely true. In fact, there are times that thrift stores in these high rent districts will offer a “new” section. These are the sections that are filled with name brand purchases that have been donated. This means that something that originally cost $400 dollar may only cost you $12.

For some, getting past the idea that someone else has already worn that clothing is the toughest part. Be wary no more, these stores only take items that are able to be worn again. So you will never have to deal with blood, or horrible stains. While they may not be perfect, this is where your wonderful imagination comes in to play. Use that creativity, look at designers fashions, and remember, a lot can be fixed with five minutes worth of sewing, or a new dye job.
